Definitions
- *Metrics:
In a company, this refers to quantifiable measures used to track and assess the performance of different aspects of the business, such as finance, marketing, operations, and customer service, allowing companies to monitor progress and make informed decisions based on data; common examples include customer satisfaction score (CSAT), net promoter score (NPS), churn rate, revenue per employee, and cost per lead and successful closing.
- *Churn rate:
Definition
Churn rate is a measure of customer retention and satisfaction. It’s calculated by dividing the number of customers lost during a period by the number of customers at the beginning of that period.
Calculation
For example, if a company has 500 customers at the beginning of a month and loses 50 customers during that month, its churn rate is 10%.
Importance
Churn rate is one of the primary factors that determine how many customers a business can support. A lower churn rate is generally better because it means more customers are retained.
